My husband just finished reading the above-noted book by Diane Duane. It is actually the first in the "Young Wizards" series.

He thought that there was too little character development but that it was a fun read.

The author's work has been compared to that of Madeleine L'Engle. I will have to ask him, however, if it held to her standards.
